RT\u00c9\n<\/p>\n

MONDAY NIGHT\u2019S EPISODE of The Traitors Ireland ended on the cliffhangers of all cliffhangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Traitor Pauric O was handed the unenviable task of taking a faithful by the hand while saying \u201cgood night and thank you for the dance\u201d.<\/p>\n

This would trigger a slow death for the faithful, who would find out they were murdered at the next day\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n

A \u201cpanicking\u201d Pauric O chose Janet and just when it looked like he might get away with it, Janet gasped and asked: \u201cDid you murder me?\u201d<\/p>\n

To us watching at home, it seems like the game is up for Pauric O in particular, but also Carla, who witnessed the whole thing.<\/p>\n

When the episode picked up tonight, Janet rushes to tell the others that Carla is a traitor and Pauric O murdered her.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9\n<\/p>\n

His immediate defence is to argue that Janet would now be murdered, which would make him look like a traitor, when he was simply mimicking a voice Janet apparently does while trying to \u201ccheer her up\u201d.<\/p>\n

It is as good a defence as is available given the dire circumstances, but in his VT interview, Pauric O concedes that he is \u201cdone, finished, there is no way I\u2019m getting out of this\u201d.<\/p>\n

Maybe this would be the case with a decent group of faithfuls, but perhaps there is an argument to be made that this is the worst group of contestants the game has ever had.<\/p>\n

Because Pauric O went on to receive not a single vote at the roundtable, and is now perhaps in a stronger position than ever.<\/p>\n

Poor DJ told the others that this should be the \u201ceasiest catch ever\u201d, but not with this group of faithfuls, who somehow missed Aoife\u2019s parting shot at Carla and have now missed Pauric O\u2019s murder in plain sight.<\/p>\n

\u2018Pauric O is 100% faithful\u2019<\/p>\n

Traitors Carla and Pauric O know that Janet will be murdered at the mission and therefore have a few hours to make their case.<\/p>\n

At breakfast, Pauric O is hard at work and claims Janet is \u201ccracking under the pressure\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ian shares a big hug with Pauric O and agrees that he \u201cmight be getting set up\u201d. Pete also has a huge bear hug for Pauric O.<\/p>\n

Kayleigh meanwhile is still \u201craging\u201d Pauric O is in the game and is growing tired of hearing of the \u201cdance of death\u201d, showing that he can also rely on her for support.<\/p>\n

DJ is the last to enter and Pauric O is quick to get ahead of things and acknowledge that the \u201cheat is now on\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, DJ\u2019s breakfast appearance triggers one of the more peculiar VT interviews in which he remarks that he \u201cloves\u201d to see Pete\u2019s face at breakfast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an absolute machine, he\u2019s a tank, his legs are like sticks but then you move up his body and he has a six-pack.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I suppose the strongest part of Pete\u2019s body is his heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Janet is the last to enter for breakfast, and she is as confused as anyone.<\/p>\n

She says her \u201cbrain is gone\u201d because she should have been murdered.<\/p>\n

She tells Pauric O that she is \u201creally sorry\u201d for accusing him of murdering her and that she now \u201cfeels really bad\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just trying to cheer you up,\u201d says Pauric O, and Janet now asserts that Pauric O is \u201c100% faithful\u201d.<\/p>\n

As viewers, many will understand her reaction \u2013 at this point, Janet even thinks she has a serious chance of winning.<\/p>\n

However, most viewers will also have felt safe in the knowledge that once Janet is murdered, it will be \u201cplain as day\u201d who the traitor is, to quote DJ.<\/p>\n

\u2018Better not be made a scapegoat\u2019<\/p>\n

Before today\u2019s mission, Ian informs Carla that she will come under suspicion at the roundtable, but in another car containing Pauric O, Janet and Anna, it is Pete who is emerging as the object of suspicion.<\/p>\n

In a third car, Pete tells DJ and Kayleigh to their face that he suspects them of being traitors.<\/p>\n

This is despite Pete last night telling the roundtable that Kayleigh is \u201c100% faithful\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was an interesting car drive,\u201d says DJ to Carla afterwards.<\/p>\n

At the mission, a colourfully dressed McSweeney drops the bombshell that a player was indeed murdered in plain sight last night, which triggers a rueful look on Janet\u2019s face.<\/p>\n

Along the way to figuring out the murdered player, the mission sees the players tasked with solving something of a riddle.<\/p>\n

If they correctly identify the player described, \u20ac500 is added to the prize pot.<\/p>\n

The player identified, meanwhile, is informed that there is a chance they were murdered in plain sight last night.<\/p>\n

In the end, Anna, Ian, DJ and Janet are identified as the players who could have been murdered and with a dramatic flourish, Janet meets her demise.<\/p>\n

DJ tells the others that \u201cit has to be Pauric O\u201d, but Ian emerges from his brush with death and runs straight to Pauric O and gives him a big hug.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell done whoever the fuck that was,\u201d says Pauric O, who warns that he \u201cbetter not be made a scapegoat\u201d.<\/p>\n

And while DJ (and us at home) proclaim that this should be the \u201ceasiest catch ever\u201d, others such as Anna and Pete are signalling that they too believe Pauric O has been set up.<\/p>\n

Back in the castle, DJ pleads to Ian: \u201cDon\u2019t do it to yourself, you have to be strong, it\u2019s so easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Are yiz well?\u2019<\/p>\n

At the roundtable, McSweeney enters in an eye-catching navy ensemble and remarks that the \u201cfloor would shake\u201d with the sound of celebrations should they catch a traitor.<\/p>\n

However, she notes that the only thing which has been shaken in recent days is the faithful\u2019s confidence.<\/p>\n

And when the roundtable starts, somehow, it\u2019s DJ who is instantly being quizzed by Pete.<\/p>\n

And while DJ is more than up to Pete\u2019s challenge, he quickly pivots to Pauric O murdering in plain sight.<\/p>\n

However, Pete inexplicably declares that he has \u201cno questions\u201d for Pauric O and when Pauric O defends himself, it appears that he has the backing of the majority of the players.<\/p>\n

Pauric O will later remark that he was in \u201cshock\u201d that there \u201cwasn\u2019t more heat on me\u201d. Viewers at home are equally perplexed.<\/p>\n

Kayleigh then puts Pete\u2019s name out there but Pauric O steers the conversation back to DJ, and Diego also raises his suspicions on DJ (a decision he will later tearfully regret).<\/p>\n

Before roundtable deliberations end, DJ emphatically states that he was nowhere near Janet last night.<\/p>\n

To viewers at home, this is understandable \u2013 Janet was murdered in plain sight, and DJ is explaining that he could not have been in a position to do this.<\/p>\n

But according to logic known only to the faithfuls, this somehow just makes him seem all the more suspicious.<\/p>\n

Janet was murdered in plain sight and she explicitly blamed Pauric O for this.<\/p>\n

Yet only DJ brings this up and there appears to be no discussion by the others around who killed Janet in plain sight or by what means if it wasn\u2019t Pauric O.<\/p>\n

Kayleigh kickstarts the voting and puts down Pete\u2019s name, and when it comes time for DJ to vote, he has sensed that he fought the good fight regarding Pauric O but has lost \u2013 he too goes for Pete.<\/p>\n

However, DJ then starts to pick up votes and in the end, it is he who is banished, while Pauric O doesn\u2019t receive a single vote.<\/p>\n

Before he is banished, DJ says he is \u201cactually shaking\u201d and as his voice breaks, he informs the players that he is \u201can absolute faithful\u201d.<\/p>\n

Carla meanwhile asks: \u201cAre yiz all well? Are people actually sitting there like, \u2018sure he wouldn\u2019t have done it\u2019. Are yiz okay?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the fuck, how did I get away with that?\u201d Pauric O later tells Carla.<\/p>\n

Ian meanwhile will later tell Pauric O that he \u201cwants to win it\u201d with him and enters into an even stronger alliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only one person that I fully trust in here now is Pauric O,\u201d Ian tells a VT interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd even if he was a traitor, I know he wouldn\u2019t murder me and would bring me to the final with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ian also confides in Pauric O that he feels like an \u201ceejit\u201d after the roundtable \u2013 presumably he feels even more like one after watching back tonight\u2019s show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at the conclave, Pauric O correctly observes that \u201cthey\u2019re doing our jobs for us\u201d.<\/p>\n

McSweeney enters to inform the traitors that instead of a murder, they have been given the \u201cceremonial dagger\u201d which will be handed out at breakfast the next morning.<\/p>\n

It will grant the player in possession of it two votes at the next roundtable.<\/p>\n

The traitors decide not to take it, and deliberate between granting it to either Anna or Diego, with Carla remarking that it will \u201ccause a bit of confusion\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think things are looking well now for myself and Pauric,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

But unbeknownst to her, Pauric O offered her name as a potential traitor to Ian and tells a VT interview that \u201cfrom now on, I need to think about me, I\u2019m taking charge\u201d.<\/p>\n
