Lily Allen<\/a> has praised her ex-husband David Harbour<\/a> for his response to her recent album \u2018West End Girl<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

Allen\u2019s fifth studio album was released last October and was written and recorded in\u00a010 days\u00a0following the collapse of her marriage to the\u00a0Stranger Things<\/a>\u00a0actor, after he allegedly cheated on her.<\/p>\n

Allen previously described the record as \u201ca mixture of fact and fiction\u201d<\/a>\u00a0that details the \u201ccomplexities of relationships and how we all navigate them\u201d, and\u00a0has said\u00a0it was inspired by her \u201cdeep-rooted issues with rejection and abandonment\u201d after her divorce<\/a>. She later stated that\u00a0she did not view it as a \u201ccruel\u201d album and was not seeking \u201crevenge\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was weird,\u201d Harbour recently said about living through the album\u2019s release cycle<\/a>. \u201cI do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStories are complex,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0my experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Allen has responded to his comments in a new interview with The Cut<\/a>. \u201cI think that was a generous thing for him to say,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s having a real moment of success as well, right? He\u2019s been nominated for an Emmy, and it\u2019s great. We\u2019re all doing our own thing, and we\u2019re all doing what we\u2019re supposed to do. If there\u2019s one thing I know about David Harbour, it\u2019s that he\u2019s an excellent actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reports of Allen\u2019s separation from Harbour emerged at the start of last year<\/a>, amid rumours that the\u00a0Stranger Things star had cheated on her. Later, Allen revealed that she went into a treatment centre to deal with the \u201cemotional turmoil\u201d<\/a>\u00a0of the break-up.<\/p>\n

Allen and Harbour began dating in 2019 after meeting on the dating app Raya, and\u00a0tied the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the interview, Allen explained why several venues were downsized on her North America tour for \u2018West End Girl\u2019<\/a>, explaining: \u201cThe ticket sales weren\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n

She has been performing her acclaimed 2025 album in full at the accompanying tour over the last year<\/a>. The theatrical shows see her appearing on stage alone,\u00a0singing to\u00a0backing tracks and not speaking to the crowd.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month she kicked off the US leg of the tour with a giant show at Madison Square Garden.
