A public advisory has been issued over ongoing pressure on the Emergency Department at UHG.<\/p>\n
The unit is extremely busy, with high numbers of presentations and people needing admission to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n
245 people attended the Emergency Department yesterday, and as of this morning, the INMO says there are almost 70 patients on trolleys.<\/p>\n
The hospital says it’s implementing all possible measures to improve patient flow and reduce delays, and is asking the public to consider all available healthcare options before attending.<\/p>\n
They include a GP, out of hours services, community pharmacists and the Roscommon Injury Unit.<\/p>\n
People not requiring urgent care, the HSE says, will experience long waiting times.<\/p>\n
Due to the ongoing pressure and lack of bed capacity, the hospital is reviewing elective procedures, with urgent and time sensitive cases being prioritised.<\/p>\n
People are reminded to only attend the ED in the case of genuine emergency.<\/p>\n
