\n\tThirteen seasons have passed since Metallica<\/a> released their latest album, 72 Seasons<\/a> \u2014 whose title represents the first 18 years of a person\u2019s life \u2014\u00a0and the band is planning on extending its M72 Tour in support of the album at least a few more. The thrashers, who are set to perform at the Sphere<\/a> in Las Vegas in October, have booked another leg of North American stadium tour dates to begin in the spring.<\/p>\n

\n\tTickets for the shows, which will see Limp Bizkit and Avatar opening for the band, will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. local time on Sept. 25, though various presales<\/a> begin Monday. Full details are on the band\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn October 2023, a few months after the band kicked off the first leg of the M72 Tour, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone<\/a> about how the new material was transforming on the stage. \u201cPlaying these songs live is super fun,\u201d he said, specifically of the album\u2019s \u201cLux \u00c6terna\u201d and \u201cToo Far Gone?\u201d \u201cWe\u2019re steering them, they\u2019re not steering us. Certain people choose not to go down particular creative paths if a song can\u2019t be [performed ive]. We\u2019ve done eight out of 12 songs so far, and we\u2019ve figured out how to crack all of them in a live situation and feel really good about it.\u201d (That number has since gone up to nine out of 12 since that interview.)<\/p>\n

\n\tRolling Stone praised 72 Seasons in a review<\/a> that said the album delivered \u201csome of the deepest, hardest-hitting music of their career.\u201d \u201cMetallica have always been masters of corpulent, groove-heavy riffs and labyrinthine song structures, but now, with more than 40 years of experience, they play with more purpose than in their speed-demon days,\u201d the review said.<\/p>\n
