Samsung<\/a> has found a new setting for one of tech\u2019s longest-running relationship dramas. Not a courtroom, not a comparison chart, but a therapist\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

In its latest campaign, “Switchers”, the smartphone maker turns the act of moving from an iPhone to a Galaxy device into a couples therapy session, complete with confessions, anxieties and a professional mediator trying to help people let go.<\/p>\n

The ad arrives just days after Apple<\/a> unveiled its latest iPhone lineup, a period when consumer attention is firmly fixed on smartphones.<\/p>\n

For Samsung, the campaign is as much about staying in the conversation as it is about promoting the Galaxy Z Fold 8.<\/p>\n

Led by Dr Orna Guralnik, the therapist known for the television series Couples Therapy, the commercial features reality stars and athletes discussing their reluctance to leave Apple’s ecosystem. Their concerns are familiar to anyone who has contemplated a switch.<\/p>\n

One participant worries about becoming the “green bubble guy”. Another fears losing photos, messages and passwords. AirDrop separation anxiety also gets its moment on the couch.<\/p>\n

The humour works because the concerns are real.<\/p>\n

For years, one of the biggest barriers preventing smartphone users from changing platforms has not been hardware but habit.<\/p>\n

Consumers accumulate years of photos, contacts, chat histories, passwords and app preferences. Leaving one ecosystem can feel less like buying a new gadget and more like moving house.<\/p>\n

That anxiety has become significant enough for smartphone makers to treat migration tools as a product feature in their own right.<\/p>\n

Apple offers tools designed to help Android users move to the iPhone. Samsung, meanwhile, has spent years refining Smart Switch, its transfer platform that promises to move content with minimal effort. Google has also pushed data migration features across Android devices. The message from all sides is largely the same. Switching should not feel painful.<\/p>\n

Samsung’s latest ad leans heavily into that promise. One user explains that all she had to do was scan a QR code, and her photos appeared on the new device.
