Throughout history we\u2019ve seen its role mutate between comic device, musical icon, and a stark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/culture\/article\/20260903-the-hidden-history-of-the-controversial-six-million-dollar-banana\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">commentator of capitalism<\/a> \u2013 all the while playing its lifelong role as the fruitbasket\u2019s favourite class clown.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"7ddue\">\u201cWhen we first began talking about a banana book, we were intrigued by how spontaneously ideas emerged, one goofy idea came after another,\u201d says John Schulisch, one half of Studio Trikken. This gave the Swedish duo the motivation to create an entire book of banana imagery, independently without any financial backing.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"chrlf\">Banana Art Book does exactly what it says, featuring over 100 banana artworks created by artists, designers and illustrators. \u201cWe wanted every page to be different, so we aimed for a variety in both style, technique and type of participant,\u201d says John. Alongside the images is a foreword by Ritupriya Basu, a creative essay by Heejae Kim, and interviews with select atists \u2013\u00a0\u201c192 pages of joyful banana energy!\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"9khf2\">Out of all the fruits, why bananas? \u201cIt has the ability to be so many things, and convey so many different meanings,\u201d says Studio Trikken\u2019s other half, Johan Elmehag. \u201cThe form is quirky, the colour is happy and cartoon characters slip on them\u2026 In this book the fruit is both a clown, an accountant and a dictator all at once.
