Coronation Street’s Sam Blakeman unexpectedly loses his temper next week, leaving his dad Nick Tilsley concerned.<\/p>\n

The struggling teen is unable to cope when his phone goes missing \u2013 but the strength of his reaction leaves Nick and his partner Toyah Battersby worried.<\/p>\n

The story starts at the Rovers, as Eva Price’s loved ones gather to watch young Susie put on a show-stopping performance.<\/p>\n

Susie is interested in a showbiz career and when she’s invited to try out for a role in a musical, she provides a sneak peek at her audition piece.<\/p>\n

While Susie has most people’s undivided attention, Sam seems distracted as he stays glued to his phone.<\/p>\n

Nick orders Sam to put the device away, concerned about how much screen time his son is having.<\/p>\n

But the next day, when Sam’s phone goes missing, the teen becomes increasingly agitated and struggles to contain his emotions. <\/p>\n

Nick and Toyah are stunned when frustrated Sam throws a stapler at the wall. <\/p>\n

Is this a sign that he needs more support with his schizophrenia?<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Sam received his diagnosis after experiencing menacing visions in the form of Roy Cropper. When the story came to a head, Sam locked himself in the caf\u00e9 with the real Roy \u2013 and Carla Connor was first to reach a breakthrough<\/a> over what was happening.<\/p>\n

Ben Price, who plays Nick, later discussed the story from his character’s perspective and why he didn’t spot the concerning signs sooner.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a tricky balance for Nick, and for Sam, but I think Nick is aware that he wants Sam to be a young man and get out there,” Ben said. “At times, Sam has been quite insular and what has worried Nick more is when Sam goes into his shell. Through quite a bit of this, Nick wasn’t really aware of what was happening \u2013 it was very personal to Sam, almost. He’s in his own world.”<\/p>\n

He added: “Because Sam is splitting their time between two houses, they might be picking up on different things. When Leanne and Nick were together, for instance, they were both seeing the same things. Now, Nick isn’t seeing the whole picture.”<\/p>\n
