Launched today, Wolf Tooth has created a series of hubs for road, gravel, and mountain bikers, designed to deliver industry-leading performance and long-term durability. Wolf Tooth has been on a slow but steady road to creating its own version of the most essential components. From headsets to pedals and bottom brackets, the Minnesota-based brand keeps adding well-designed, US-made components to its catalog, giving riders another option for the most important parts of their builds. The new Wolf Tooth hubs are the latest milestone on that quest.<\/p>\n

Engineered and machined from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum and featuring ENVE\u2019s INNERDRIVE freehub system, each hub model has an angular shell that the brand says matches its overall design language. The new hubs come in three orientations: straight-pull road and gravel, XC and trail, trail to DH. Each uses machining said to save weight without sacrificing durability. Wolf Tooth also offers J-Bend hubs, built for everything from aggressive trail to downhill riding, with their own oversized aesthetic. The J-Bend front hubs accommodate a standard 15mm boost or 20mm front axle. Hole counts and weights for the available hubs are as follows, though other orientations are coming at a later date:<\/p>\n

The straight-pull hubs use anti-twist, no-touch spoke drilling, and all hubs feature consistent spoke lengths per wheelset. The hubs use standardized bearing sizes across front and rear, and an internal circlip holds the steel ratchets in place, ensuring the freehub and ratchets won\u2019t fall out.<\/p>\n

The new hubs use what Wolf Tooth is calling its \u201cPerfect Preload\u201d system. According to the brand, it eliminates the need for bearing preload adjustments with a tuned wave washer. The Bearing preload is set during hub assembly and supposedly dynamically adjusts over the life of the hub, with no special tools required. Internally, Wolf Tooth says the oversized ENVE INNERDRIVE ratchet rings offer benefits over traditional ratchet-style hubs. The larger 42mm diameter drive rings allow for higher engagement tooth counts without sacrificing durability. <\/p>\n

At purchase, riders can choose between a 40T PRO, 60T, 80T, or 100T drive ratchet to tune hub engagement and prioritize lower drag or quicker engagement. With the highest tooth count, the hubs are said to engage at 3.6 degrees. Wolf Tooth notes that the standard option that ships with all Wolf Tooth road and gravel hubs is the 40T PRO ratchet, which has a reduced diameter, with additional material milled out to save weight.<\/p>\n

Beyond their partnership within the hubs, Wolf Tooth has teamed up with ENVE to offer complete wheelsets at launch. As of writing, the hubs are available with the ENVE SES 4.5, G SES 4.5, M6, and M8 rims, as well as the We Are One Whisp and their Triad 29\u2033 and Mullet wheelsets.<\/p>\n

All of the new Wolf Tooth Hubs are available in six Color Shop anodized finishes: Black, Red, Blue, Gold, Orange, and Ultraviolet Purple, with more to come. Retail pricing is $729.90 for a set, with $239.95 for the front and $489.95 for the rear.<\/p>\n
