Construction is under way for the $525 million, 72-storey residential high-rise tower known as \u201cAtlas Melbourne\u201d in the city\u2019s CBD.<\/p>\n

Located on the 2,851 square metre former site of the Australian Federal Police headquarters at 383 La Trobe street, the building will deliver more than 850 apartments with resident amenities.<\/p>\n

The dwellings, designed by Cox Architecture and Fender Katsalidis, will comprise of a range of apartments from studios to exclusive penthouses, a media communique has announced. <\/p>\n

Resident amenities will include a bar, entertaining and office spaces, and gym and wellness facilities.<\/p>\n

On ground level, a gallery arcade will extend Melbourne\u2019s laneway network with pedestrian walkways featuring retail, dining and public art. The pedestrian laneways are also intended to link La Trobe and Little Lonsdale streets.<\/p>\n

Previously, the site was slated for a 33-storey office tower designed by Cox Architecture, which was lodged for planning assessment in 2020<\/a> and approved by Melbourne City Council in 2021<\/a>. That scheme replaced an earlier 70-storey hotel and apartment complex proposa<\/a>l designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Architectus.<\/p>\n
