Credit: INPHO\/James Lawlor<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Elding had been called up previously as part of Ireland\u2019s summer friendly series against Grenada, Qatar, and Canada but did not make an appearance. However, he has retained his place in the squad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">With 6 goals in 21 appearances for Hibs, Elding, an attacker, has caught the eye of the Ireland Head Coach and at just 20-years-old could play a major role in the national team\u2019s future. He is considered a bright footballing talent whose career is only getting started.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Owen\u2019s father Anthony was also a professional footballer and has transitioned into coaching since retiring and recently had a role in the academy with Mayo FC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Elding is not the only player in the Ireland squad with links to Mayo.
