Our body goals change with age, when comfort becomes even more important than toning up. It\u2019s a shift that Trinny Woodall<\/a> is learning to navigate at 66, and the beauty entrepreneur explains how she\u2019s adjusting her regime to stay strong and safe. It\u2019s working so well, the Trinny London<\/a> founder tells us she\u2019s actually put knee surgery on hold.<\/p>\n

\u2018I try to avoid lunges, because I think if you have any issues with your knees, lunges are sh*t,\u2019 says Trinny, who was diagnosed with ‘chronic arthritis’ in her knees and told she needed partial replacement of both. <\/p>\n

\u2018So my trainer and I do a lot of other different strengthening for the knees, because a lot of women in their 50s and over get knee and hip issues. You have to be so aware when you’re exercising if you\u2019re putting added pressure on them.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trinny has adjusted her workout and supplement regime<\/p>\n

Everyone is different, so exercise should be tailored to individual needs and niggles, rather than being a simple one-size-fits all. But Trinny<\/a> tells us she\u2019s getting great results by increasing her resistance, under the supervision of trainer Nathalie Hayward, and changing her supplement regime.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m doing heavier weights<\/a> now,\u2019 the Trinny London founder says. \u2018I started with just one and two kilos for a couple of years, because I literally had never done weights before. Then, three years I did up to about eight kilos, but now I’m doing 15 or more for some heavier exercises.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trinny swears by her supplement regime <\/p>\n

She\u2019s completing her new workout regime with an upgraded supplement regime to support joint health. \u2018I\u2019m taking glucosamine with MSM, which is a game-f*cking changer! I was meant to have two knee replacements, and I’ve been taking that religiously with the Bare Biology omega 3. And I\u2019ve noticed no knee pain. It’s been amazing.\u2019

Trinny is as busy as ever this month, launching her (excellent) new Fearless Foundation<\/a>, and agrees she\u2019s too busy to fit in an operation if she can possibly avoid it. \u201cI really am, and also if I do it, now I would maybe need to have it done again when I\u2019m 90. I\u2019d rather do it once, when I’m 70.\u2019<\/p>\n

Beyond tweaking her regime for creaking knees, Trinny tells us she has a few other additions she\u2019s swearing by right now. Here\u2019s what\u2019s hitting the spot for her at 66.<\/p>\n

Like most women her age, anything to improve sleep is a must. \u2018I\u2019ll tell you what I love, it\u2019s a quirky thing \u2013 Moon Mist,\u2019 she says. \u2018It\u2019s created by a man called Paolo, who used to be at Neville Hair. A lot of women say they feel unsettled around the full moon. And he created this that you put it on when it’s full moon. I don’t know what’s in it, but I have to f*cking tell you, it works. Because I’m no longer affected by the moon. All my friends are like, ‘It’s a full moon, that’s why I feel like this.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m fine!” I put it on before I go to bed and I sleep better.\u2019 <\/p>\n

These pre-glued underlashes are created by Trinny\u2019s long-term lash extensions guru, Edy, and she wears them whenever she can\u2019t fit in a salon appointment. \u2018I\u2019m wearing them today and they are unbelievable,\u2019 she says. \u2018I think that mascara is brilliant but some women just have very short lashes, so I definitely recommend getting a false lash like this, which looks like real lashes but better.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trinny tells us she\u2019s trying to get a little bit more protein in her diet: ‘I was probably doing 60 grams a day, I’m trying to do 90\u2019. Her go-to breakfast is a 3-egg omelette although she admits \u2018I have to change it because it’s really f*cking boring! But I\u2019ve added in cottage cheese, which takes it from maybe 25g to 35-40g by the time I\u2019ve walked out the door.\u2019 An extra hit of protein comes at lunch from good old M&S and its multi-buy lunch bites. \u2018I get a stack of three from the M&S deli section, and include things like the prawns and the hummus with carrots,’ she says. ‘That gets me to about 70g, and then in the evening I\u2019ll have salmon or chicken with rice.\u2019 Job done.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Our body goals change with age, when comfort becomes even more important than toning up.
