\n\tMobLand<\/a> is back on Paramount+<\/a> for its second season, the one Tom Hardy<\/a> was always going to be a part of<\/a>. Hardy\u2019s Harry Da Souza serves as the faithful fixer for Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, who are played by Pierce Brosnan<\/a> and Helen Mirren<\/a> \u2014 and it sounds like the Irish crime family is really going to need their guy going forward.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow both out of jail (\u201cmiraculously,\u201d Mirren tells The Hollywood Reporter; \u201cI was wondering how that was going to happen,\u201d Brosnan adds), the Harrigans are back on their bullshit.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis second season kicks off with a bang \u2014 many bangs, actually \u2014 at the dog track, and they are in full Harrigan mode,\u201d Brosnan teased to THR. \u201cAnd yet there is an undercurrent and a malevolence that is coming upon the stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSome of that malevolence comes through Kat Macallister\u2019s (Janet McTeer) own fixer, Frankie (Johnny Flynn), who, in a fun twist, is a serious germaphobe. (You don\u2019t tend to stay super clean in Frankie\u2019s and Harry\u2019s line of work.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe get somewhat blindsided by [Frankie],\u201d Brosnan says.<\/p>\n

\n\tToby Jones also returns for season two as corrupt former cop Colin Tattersall; Mirren called the trio of supporting stars \u201csome of the really, truly great British actors.\u201d Brosnan agreed, saying they\u2019re each \u201cat the top of their game,\u201d and that it is \u201cbeautiful to watch them work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can\u2019t believe our good luck that we\u2019ve got these people on board,\u201d Mirren added.<\/p>\n

\n\tIs it luck, or is it the skill of scribe Jez Butterworth that attracts such talent? Maybe a bit of both.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re all incredibly appreciative of how brilliant our scripts are, written by one of the \u2014 if not the top \u2014 British playwright,\u201d Brosnan said of his showrunner.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs talented as the entire call sheet may be, it is undoubtedly the top three \u2014 Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren \u2014 who make MobLand work. Brosnan, who boasts a hell of an IMDb (even outside of James Bond<\/a>), says he\u2019s \u201cnever played a character like Conrad<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWell, there was that one time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s one of my movies called The Matador. He was pretty kind of crazy, whack job, hitman character \u2014 but nothing like this. This is pure lunacy,\u201d Brosnan says of playing Conrad. \u201cWhen I was offered this role, Guy Ritchie just said, \u2018Go Irish, go mad.\u2019 (Laughs.) That was what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the subject of Bond, Brosnan tells THR he, too, is awaiting an announcement of the new martini-preparation snob. \u201cI\u2019m just a member of the audience now \u2014 I will not find out before any of us. It\u2019s exciting. It\u2019s wonderful. It\u2019s exhilarating. We all want to know,\u201d he said, in response to Page Six\u2019s recent report<\/a> that Jack Barton has emerged as a frontrunner. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhoever the man is, I wish him well. Stand tall, stand strong, own it and be great,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

\n\tMirren, the Oscar winner (The Queen) here, says she places Maeve in her \u201ctop four\u201d career-spanning roles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve played many powerful women. I\u2019ve been lucky enough to play some very, very powerful women and great, great roles, theater and film and television. Maeve is up there. Maeve is up there in the top four. Definitely top four,\u201d she said. \u201cJust in the variety that you can present, there is no limit. There\u2019s no limit, and it\u2019s enormous fun. It\u2019s great, great fun. I should be so lucky to get a role like Maeve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNow that we know Hardy has not been fired from MobLand \u2014 THR was the only Hollywood trade outlet to report that one correctly \u2014 the big three are looking forward to season three<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re sitting here now more or less waiting in the wings to see what is revealed in the third season,\u201d Brosnan said. \u201cNeither of us know \u2014 I don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s hoping we\u2019re still alive,\u201d Mirren added, laughing.<\/p>\n
