\n\tFinding out his name wouldn\u2019t be used on the \u201cScream<\/a>\u201d poster wasn\u2019t one of Henry Winkler<\/a>\u2019s happier days.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cHappy Days<\/a>\u201d star played Principal Arthur Himbry in the original \u201cScream\u201d film, which went on to become one of the most successful horror franchises. But despite his character\u2019s entrance receiving applause during screen tests for the 1996 movie, Winkler revealed the studio refused to put his name on the poster.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe studio comes to me and says, \u2018We can\u2019t put your name on the film. We cannot put you anywhere near the poster,\u2019\u201d Winkler said in an interview for \u201cIn Depth With Graham Besinger.\u201d <\/a>When he asked why, the studio said, \u201cWell, you were the Fonz, and you will knock the balance of horror off if we let them know you\u2019re in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough it left him feeling \u201cinsulted,\u201d the actor didn\u2019t overtly protest the studio\u2019s decision. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI said, \u2018OK. What can I do?\u2019 I went home upset,\u201d the actor said. \u201cI was bewildered a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe later learned the same people who had informed him his name wouldn\u2019t be used on the poster were also the ones who asked him if he would do press for the film\u2019s release. Winkler ultimately agreed, noting he obliged for himself, director Wes Craven and the movie as a whole.<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, looking back 30 years later, Winkler said the experience taught him to navigate the unknown.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s the lesson. You just show up,\u201d he said, also pointing out that \u201cyou have no idea what\u2019s going to happen, but that\u2019s out of your control.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cScream\u201d also starred Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Drew Barrymore and Matthew Lillard.
