Priya Ahluwalia has revealed she has a particular look in mind for Zendaya as she unveiled her latest collaboration with Puma at London Fashion Week.<\/p>\n

The British designer, who dressed The White Lotus actress Aimee Lou Wood for this year\u2019s Met Gala, said she was already imagining which stars might wear pieces from her spring\/summer 2027 collection.<\/p>\n

“I have a specific look in mind for Zendaya,” Ahluwalia told the Press Association ahead of the show.<\/p>\n

She also singled out actor Colman Domingo, whom she would like to see wearing pieces from her new menswear collection.<\/p>\n

“I think what you\u2019ll see is that the collection is definitely not homogenous,” she said. “We have things for different people at different stages in their life.”<\/p>\n

While Zendaya was not on the front row, singer Ella Eyre was among the guests at the Rosewood hotel in central London, where Ahluwalia presented a collection titled “Revel”.<\/p>\n

The show also debuted the third drop of her collaboration with sportswear brand Puma, with bright trainers and fringed tracksuits appearing alongside sharply cut satin, sheer dresses and sculptural skirts.<\/p>\n

The footwear came in silver, cobalt blue, red, terracotta and patent black, with contrasting stitched details that were echoed in the ready-to-wear.<\/p>\n

One male model wore a black Puma zip-up tracksuit with white piping, layered over long black fringing that moved as he walked. Elsewhere, terracotta sportswear was paired with red-and-silver trainers, while a cream double-breasted suit was paired with the same brightly coloured footwear.<\/p>\n

Ahluwalia\u2019s designs certainly made a strong case for wearing trainers with tailoring rather than with gym clothes.<\/p>\n

Speaking before the show, the designer said that “this show will feature my Puma and Ahluwalia collaboration. It\u2019s the third drop, so people will see that for the first time. So trainers and also ready-to-wear, and there\u2019s some really beautiful pieces part of that as well.”<\/p>\n

But the collection was not simply about sportswear.<\/p>\n

Known for her extensive research between seasons, Ahluwalia said Revel began with research into resistance movements and the people who had fought for freedoms, before she found herself thinking about what those individuals were like away from protests and political organising.<\/p>\n

“I started thinking about who are these people when they\u2019re off duty?” she told PA.<\/p>\n

That led her towards the importance of friendship, live music and shared experiences, with the collection becoming “a reflection of the power of intentionally choosing lightness and the people that make that choice possible”.<\/p>\n

It was a rather fitting starting point for a show that seemed determined to have some fun with its proportions.<\/p>\n

Dropped waists and balloon hems gave skirts almost inflated shapes, while fringe added movement to everything from eveningwear to sportswear.<\/p>\n

The colour palette was varied, but trends included flashes of cobalt blue, vibrant green and sky blue.<\/p>\n

The shades reflected the set, created in collaboration with Calico Wallpaper. The runway was framed by a vast watercolour-style backdrop of pale blue, pink and soft yellow, resembling a sky just before sunset.<\/p>\n

It softened the grandeur of the Rosewood ballroom and provided a contrast to the collection\u2019s more slimly-fitted pieces.<\/p>\n

Ahluwalia explained that she had been experimenting with silhouettes that took up more room than those in previous seasons.<\/p>\n

“When I drape, I think about pulling and constriction,” she said, “whereas I think that some of the pieces in this collection are about pushing.<\/p>\n

“I was thinking about pushing into space.”<\/p>\n

That idea was particularly apparent in the eveningwear, where sharply cut satin dresses sat alongside fuller skirts, sheer fabrics and cut-outs.<\/p>\n

One dark brown dress exposed the waist through angular cut-outs, while another look paired a softly draped ivory top with a long green skirt decorated with shimmering embellishment.<\/p>\n

The designer also revisited the nipped-in waist, a silhouette that has been appearing across the London Fashion Week runways, this time through structured outerwear.<\/p>\n

Military-style berets and pointed shoes gave some looks a more disciplined finish, although Ahluwalia was careful not to let the collection become too serious.<\/p>\n

Her research included photographs of the Black Panthers, not only at demonstrations but also at home, with details from their clothing influencing pocket shapes and other elements of the collection.<\/p>\n

She also looked to Festac 77, the major festival of black and African arts and culture held in Nigeria in 1977, drawing on its shapes for prints, knitwear and embellishment.<\/p>\n

The references were not always immediately obvious on the runway, but that seemed to be the point. Rather than recreating historical clothing, Ahluwalia was interested in the people behind it and how they expressed themselves beyond the moments for which they are remembered.<\/p>\n

Ahluwalia said she believed the new collection could appeal to a wider audience, adding that there was “a lightness to it that perhaps hasn\u2019t been seen before”.<\/p>\n
