A popular Galway restaurant has said its “long goodbye” to its customers in an emotional statement as it closes its doors after 27 years.<\/p>\n
Off The Square in Clifden has closed its doors for good.<\/p>\n
In a post on social media, they said they were “full of memories and emotions” as they said their “long goodbye.”<\/p>\n
They announced in August that they would be closing their doors on September 13.<\/p>\n
Today, they vacated the premises all together.<\/p>\n
They said: “This is the long goodbye.<\/p>\n
“The past week has been full of memories and emotions.<\/p>\n
“We wish the next custodians every success and hope the place brings them as much happiness as it brought us.<\/p>\n
“Until we pop up again, It has been a pleasure to serve you.”<\/p>\n
We reported in August<\/a> how owners P.J. and Maureen Heffernan confirmed the closure, describing it as a bittersweet moment for the pair.<\/p>\n They thanked their “incredible staff” and their friends and customers “from both near and far” over the past near-three decades.<\/p>\n The Central House in Clifden, who are neighbours of Off The Square, have wished the team every success in the future.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery ending marks the beginning of a new chapter,” they said.<\/p>\n “After 27 wonderful years in business, our neighbours at Off the Square will be closing their doors this Sunday.”<\/p>\n “From all of us at The Central House Clifden, we would like to wish the entire team every success and happiness for the future.”<\/p>\n “Thank you for everything you have brought to Clifden over the years.
