\n\tRuby Rose<\/a> got emotional when asked about her friend, Hayden Panettiere<\/a>, who died Aug. 16 at 36.<\/p>\n

\n\tRose told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> that Panettiere was her \u201cbest friend\u201d and that they \u201cspoke every day for five years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t even think we were going to be friends,\u201d Rose said, tearing up. \u201cI didn\u2019t know if I wanted to have any celebrity friends, because I didn\u2019t have a great experience with the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe shared how the two of them first met, saying, \u201cI saw her, she saw me, and I just remember thinking, \u2018Oh, no.\u2019 And then she ran up anyway and was like, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m Hayden. Can we go talk somewhere? We\u2019ve got a lot in common.\u2019 I just laughed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two quickly became close after realizing they \u201chad everything in common,\u201d Rose said. Throughout their five-year friendship, they texted each other every day to check in. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHayden, all that she ever wanted was to have her story told her way, on her terms,\u201d Rose said.<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere, who was known for her roles on \u201cHeroes,\u201d \u201cNashville,\u201d \u201cScream 4\u201d and \u201cScream VI,\u201d openly spoke about her struggles with drug and alcohol addiction in her 2026 memoir, \u201cThis Is Me: A Reckoning.\u201d Days after her death, the Drug Enforcement Administration joined the investigation<\/a>, working with South Carolina\u2019s Greenville Police Department to determine her cause of death.<\/p>\n

\n\tHollywood stars shared tributes online after news of her death became public, including Jack Coleman, who played her father on \u201cHeroes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m heartbroken. I couldn\u2019t begin to put my thoughts into words until now, and they will be inadequate,\u201d Coleman wrote<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve loved Hayden since day one of the pilot of \u2018Heroes,\u2019 20 years ago, when she introduced herself by shouting \u2018daddy\u2019 and throwing her arms around me. From that day on, she called me daddio.
