\u00d3r\u00e1n is now a lecturer and a Doctor in Music Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, he has performed with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra and toured extensively in Ireland, Britain and Europe.<\/p>\n
His debut album, Visions, explored previously unrecorded works from the National Library of Ireland’s archives.<\/p>\n
Tell us three things about yourself . . .<\/p>\n
I’m a classical pianist, currently researching nineteenth-century piano music in Dublin, and am an avid hiker!<\/p>\n
How would you describe your music?<\/p>\n

I tend to play a very broad range of styles. I love French repertoire but have played and recorded contemporary music by Christopher Moriarty and Conor Linehan. Recently I’ve become more interested in playing pop\/rock keyboard through some friends of mine who are in a band named Dominda.<\/p>\n
Who are your musical inspirations?<\/p>\n
I listen quite broadly and take inspiration from as many different genres as I can. The classical pianist that I most admire is the Italian perfectionist and gentleman Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. I have long loved the drumming of Joey Jordison, the drummer of Slipknot for a number of years, and Amy Winehouse is my all-time favourite singer.<\/p>\n
What was the first gig you ever went to?<\/p>\n

I remember going along to a gig of the Dublin-based band The Blades when I was in my early teens. A friend of mine brought me along as his dad Frank is the trumpet player. It was a great night, packed out in the Olympia; I left a fan for life.<\/p>\n
