Vernon Kay was in a cheeky mood as he presented BBC Radio 2 in the Park with Michelle Visage, quipping that he was going to get “fired” after making a flirty comment<\/p>\n

BBC Radio 2’s Vernon Kay<\/a>, 51, joked that he was about to get “the sack” after engaging in some cheeky flirtation<\/a> with Radio 2 in the Park co-host Michelle Visage<\/a>, 56, who is friends with his Strictly<\/a> presenter wife, Tess Daly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The pair had been broadcasting live from Chelmsford’s Hylands Park for Radio 2<\/a>‘s popular annual event, which showcased performers including Marti Pellow<\/a>, pop sensation Jessie J<\/a> and local lad Olly Murs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Michelle, who began her career in girl group Seduction before finding stardom as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race<\/a>, had been commenting on the sweltering temperatures at the park on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Vernon playfully responded: “But wherever you are is always hot,” before instructing Michelle to jot down his compliment and post it to herself.<\/p>\n

“Put it in an envelope and send it back home,” he suggested. “When you go home, you can open that envelope. And you know what it’ll say? You’re hot.”<\/p>\n

Recognising that his saucy remarks might have crossed a line, Vernon sheepishly admitted: “I just got fired,” sparking laughter from former Strictly contestant Michelle.<\/p>\n

Whilst Vernon was making light of being given the boot, his radio guest, comedian Josh Widdecombe, was chatting about branching out into new territory. Following his takeover of the Phil Daniels role for a rendition of Blur’s Parklife at the festival, Josh bragged that he could step into the shoes of the band’s lead singer Damon Albarn.<\/p>\n

Fearne Cotton was spotted trying to coax a few other Radio 2 in the Park workers to let loose, attempting to get some security guards to join in on the Macarena dance. However, she only managed to get “a bit of a twitch at the end.”<\/p>\n

Vernon was in high spirits at the BBC<\/a> event, expressing his relief after an “anxious” time at home. At the end of last month, he shared with fans that he couldn’t “stop crying” after finally receiving his daughter Amber’s GCSE results.<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old presenter confessed to having had a “week of anxiety” leading up to results day, telling fellow DJ Scott Mills: “I can’t stop crying Scott, I seriously can’t stop crying. It’s GCSE results day today and we’ve done alright.”<\/p>\n

He continued to explain his belief in the significance of a student’s GCSE results: “I think GCSEs are more important than A-levels,” Vernon stated. “Because from A-levels onwards, you can kind of fudge, you can blag a little bit because you’ve got a little bit of something about you, but GCSEs are tough, it’s the first major step, well it’s not a step, it’s a stride.”<\/p>\n

His 15-year-old daughter’s exam success left Vernon emotionally overwhelmed: “I ain’t gonna lie, the girls have seen me crying this morning because our eldest filmed, with her phone on her lap, Amber getting her GCSE results, and I’ve watched it more than a dozen times, and I keep welling up, so just allow me today please.”<\/p>\n
