A Bermudian singer impressed judges and fans when he performed on the British version of the hit singing competition The Voice.<\/p>\n

Dakari Love\u2019s rendition of No Time To Die, by Billie Eilish, propelled him to the next round of the contest.<\/p>\n

Entertainment icon Sir Tom Jones, a judge on the show, was particularly impressed with the blind audition performance by Dakari, whose real name is Nkosi Hollis.<\/p>\n

The performance \u2014 which spanned about a minute and a half \u2014 impressed the audience, who applauded as the singer belted out the chorus to the hit \u2014 the theme song of the 2021 James Bond film with the same name.<\/p>\n

On Instagram<\/a>, Dakari said \u201cI still can\u2019t believe this actually happened\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI was so nervous, which was quite obvious in the vocals, but I pulled myself together and kept going.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo proud of myself for being resilient and seeing it through. Still feels like a dream. Thank you God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dakari told The Royal Gazette today that he was still emotional, adding that he was happy to advance his talent as a musician.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI am filled with a lot of emotions and l think my nerves got the best of me within the performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a long day filming and anticipation and preparing. It was a mixture of emotions that I don\u2019t think I will ever forget \u2026 it was for the good.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely think it shaped me and I would definitely not forget this moment and I\u2019m so proud of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dakari said he was also thankful for the supportive comments he received from Sir Tom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember him telling me that he\u2019s never heard a voice like mine and he felt it. It was more of a feeling than him hearing it and I really appreciate it coming from a legend like Sir Tom Jones,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust being on the show alone is a big step. It\u2019s a huge deal,\u201d Dakari noted.<\/p>\n

Under his Instagram post, supporters showered the performer with praise.<\/p>\n

One said: \u201cSo amazing. We are all so proud of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another wrote: \u201cThis is a beautiful presentation in every way.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe nerves just mean you want it. And what you want shall be ours, you beautiful human.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singer Aalai asked: \u201cAnyone else in here crying!?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dakari said he was humbled by the support he received from Bermuda.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cTo my people, thank you so much.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of love has been tremendously overwhelming but I am loving it, I am appreciative of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing about our people is that we stand strong behind our people. We have to.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are resilient and strong and I kind of show that in my performance as well \u2014 how resilient Bermudians are.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love my people.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the next round of the contest, Dakari will compete with another singer to try to progress on the show.<\/p>\n

The battle episodes are predicted to air on about October 3 and 10.<\/p>\n
