Leinster have confirmed that Jamison Gibson-Park has been ruled out due to a “minor groin injury” but Andrew Porter, Tommy O’Brien and Joey Carbery are increasing their training loads ahead of the start of the new season.<\/p>\n
The scrum-half started two of Ireland’s summer internationals against Australia and New Zealand, but has not been included in Leinster’s 41-man training squad that have travelled down to South Africa for the opening two rounds of the URC.<\/p>\n
Cormac Foley, Jordan Larmour, Diarmuid Mangan and James Culhane are all unavailable for selection also, while there are no further updates on Jack Boyle, RG Snyman, Caelan Doris and Paddy McCarthy.<\/p>\n
There is better news however for Irish international trio Andrew Porter, Tommy O’Brien and Joey Carbery.<\/p>\n
Porter and O’Brien both missed the summer tests with calf and groin injuries respectively, but have returned to full training ahead of their season opener against the Lions on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Out-half Joey Carbery, who re-joined the province from Bordeaux-Begles over the summer has also increased his training load as he returns from an ACL injury.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Connacht will be without their Irish internationals for their clash with the Stormers on Friday.<\/p>\n
Bundee Aki, Billy Bohan, Ciar\u00e1n Frawley, Sam Illo, Sean Jansen, Darragh Murray and Cian Prendergast will all return on a “case-by-case basis” depending on their Test minutes.<\/p>\n
Stuart Lancaster will also be without Will Connors and Hugh Gavin for the early part of the season.<\/p>\n
Connors is recovering from a foot injury and Gavin from a leg injury and they are due to return to training in October and December respectively.<\/p>\n
