{"id":632227,"date":"2026-09-22T07:34:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T07:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/632227\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T07:34:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T07:34:10","slug":"4-interest-rate-for-some-cpf-accounts-extended-to-end-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/632227\/","title":{"rendered":"4% interest rate for some CPF accounts extended to end-2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text-primary article-summary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 Central Provident Fund (CPF) members will earn a minimum of 4 per cent on their  Special, MediSave and Retirement Accounts (SMRA) till the end of 2027, with interest rates remaining unchanged for the upcoming quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The extension of the SMRA rate floor will continue to help members grow their retirement savings and provide them with certainty on their CPF returns amid the uncertain economic and interest rate environment, the CPF Board (CPFB) and the Housing Board said in a joint statement on Sept 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The SMRA interest rate will remain unchanged at the floor rate of 4 per cent from Oct 1 to Dec 31, as the SMRA pegged rate remains below the floor rate of 4 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">This is pegged to the 12-month average yield of 10-year Singapore Government Securities, plus 1 per cent. According to the CPFB website, the average yield from August 2025 to July 2026 was 3.06 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The Ordinary Account interest rate will remain at 2.5 per cent from Oct 1 to Dec 31, as the OA pegged rate remains below the floor rate of 2.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">This is pegged to the three-month average of the major local banks\u2019 interest rates, which was 0.32 per cent from May to July, according to the CPFB website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The concessionary rate for HDB housing loans, which is pegged at 0.1 per cent above the OA interest rate, will stay at 2.6 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Members will also continue to earn extra interest on their CPF savings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Those aged below 55 will earn an additional 1 per cent interest on the first $60,000 of their combined balances, capped at $20,000 for OA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">For those aged 55 and above, the Government will pay an extra 2 per cent interest on the first $30,000 of their combined balances \u2013 capped at $20,000 for OA \u2013 and another 1 per cent on the next $30,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The extra interest earned on the OA balances will go into the individual\u2019s Special Account or Retirement Account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Additionally, CPF Life participants who are aged 55 and above will still earn extra interest on their combined CPF balances, including the savings used for CPF Life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SINGAPORE \u2013 Central Provident Fund (CPF) members will earn a minimum of 4 per cent on their Special,&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":632228,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[72,176,61,60,174,175],"class_list":["post-632227","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-personal-finance","tag-business","tag-finance","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-personal-finance","tag-personalfinance"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/632227","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=632227"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/632227\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/632228"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=632227"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=632227"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=632227"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
