Coronation Street star Junade Khan<\/a> has announced plans for Carla Connor-Swain to become Idris Nazir’s next target.<\/p>\n

Idris has caused trouble for several of the residents since arriving in Weatherfield in May<\/a> \u2013 but now he’ll be aiming even higher as he tries to take control of Underworld from Carla.<\/p>\n

Junade shared the news on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2026<\/a> last night.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, he teased: “Carla does not like Idris! Basically, Underworld is something that Idris wants to get. He wants to grab hold of it \u2013 and there’s going to be a bit of a battle, a bit of a tussle.<\/p>\n

“Obviously that’s her livelihood, so she’s not going to give it up easily, but we’ll see what happens. I don’t know if I can tell you exactly what happens but it’s going to be interesting.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “Carla is a strong character, so when they both lock horns, it’s going to be a battle of wits, really.<\/p>\n

“Obviously Idris is a bit naughty and we’ll see what happens there\u2026”<\/p>\n

While characters rarely cross Carla and get away with it, Junade warned that Idris will become a force to be reckoned with when they go head-to-head.<\/p>\n

“He’s very, very determined to get what he wants,” Junade explained. “And when he sees a weak link in the chain, he likes to try and explore it.<\/p>\n

“Right now, she’s quite vulnerable so it’s a really good time to attack her and get what he wants.”<\/p>\n

Fans will find out more details about Idris and Carla’s new storyline in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

The Inside Soap Awards<\/a> saw Carla’s relationship with her wife Lisa celebrated, as Alison King and Vicky Myers were named Best On-Screen Partnership for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n

Vicky Myers, who plays Lisa, also took home the Best Actress prize for the second year running.<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
