Coronation Street<\/a> has teased the next potential romance for Todd Grimshaw after actor Gareth Pierce spoke about the possibility in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s episode saw Christina Boyd invite Todd and George Shuttleworth to the pub, but Todd told them that he had plans in the evening with James Bailey.<\/p>\n

An intrigued Christina asked if she was “detecting a little bit of sexual chemistry between the two of you?”<\/p>\n

Todd tried to play it down, telling her: “Two gay men are able be friends without ripping each other’s clothes off.”<\/p>\n

Christina chose not to push it forward, joking that he was being “just as boring as us straights, eh”, but couldn’t help but notice their body language in the Rovers.<\/p>\n

At the bar James put his arm around Todd and leant his head into Todd’s shoulder while they got giddy at the idea of having some drinks.<\/p>\n

George and Maggie Driscoll both noted that they looked “cosy” and would make a “fine-looking couple”, but the speculation started to get on Todd’s nerves, so planned to head into town.<\/p>\n

George decided to have a little fun and asked Kirk Sutherland if he wanted to join them, saying that they wouldn’t mind since it wasn’t a date.<\/p>\n

Later on, Todd joked about the “fine-looking couple” comment, but was left speechless when James asked him if he thought that they actually would.<\/p>\n

It looks like James is keen, but could it be a happening thing?<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Inside Soap 2026 Awards, where he won Best Actor<\/a>, Pierce said: “I guess it’s deciding at what point… it’s not just a rebound. I think that it may still be a little tentative.”<\/p>\n

He did state that James is “definitely a really good person to have in Todd’s life in this next phase” but it’s still be seen “where the writers want to take it”.<\/p>\n

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX<\/a> and YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n
