The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Cardiology Service is delighted that the Heart Failure Warriors Support Group NI has extended its reach with the establishment of a new support group in the Western Trust area.<\/p>\n
Denise Whittle, Heart Failure Nurse Specialist explains: \u201cHeart Failure Warriors is a support group in Northern Ireland dedicated to empowering individuals affected by heart failure.\u00a0 The group provide resources, education and peer support to improve the quality of life for patients living with heart failure and their families.\u00a0 This organisation aims to raise awareness, encourage early diagnosis and foster a community that shares experiences and knowledge. We are delighted that they have extended their reach to the Western Trust area, having been established within other HSC Trusts in NI.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0First\u00a0meeting of the Heart Failure Warriors Support Group will be held on\u00a0Monday, October 27 at 7pm in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh.<\/p>\n
Denise\u00a0added: \u201cChairperson of the group, Nicole McKelvie, will share her personal journey of being diagnosed with heart failure. Her honest and inspirational story will help reassure others that they are not along and that support is available.\u00a0 This will be followed by a presentation from Dr Sinead Hughes, Consultant Cardiology Lead at the Western Trust. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Western Trust Heart Failure Nurse Specialists who will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you or your family member may have about your diagnosis.<\/p>\n
The aim of the group is to meet monthly, alternating venues to accommodate all sectors of the Western Trust, providing ongoing opportunities for learning, connection and support.\u00a0 Everyone welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
