While no giant snake<\/a> movie can ever hope to top Anaconda (the original, not the recent<\/a> meta remake<\/a>), it looks like a strong addition to the genre has just slithered into the ring. Beware Boi\u00fana has released its final trailer, and while the glimpses of its title monster are fleeting, there\u2019s plenty of jungle dread to go around.<\/p>\n

Unlike the darkly comedic Anaconda, Beware Boi\u00fana appears to lean mostly into pure horror, though there always could be a character with a campy accent that\u2019s not revealed in this footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boi\u00fana, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain,\u201d reads the official synopsis. \u201cIn the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.\u201d<\/p>\n

It sounds like pretty standard survival horror, but the Amazon is more isolated and hostile than most environments\u2014and that snake is undeniably, unnervingly large, not to mention territorial and very pissed-off.<\/p>\n

The cast includes Kiana Madeira (Fear Street, Malcolm in the Middle: Life\u2019s Still Unfair), Logan Marshall-Green (The Odyssey, Marshals), and emergent scream queen Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day). The director is Mike P. Nelson<\/a> (Wrong Turn, Silent Night Deadly Night), with a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy (Wrong Turn, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers).<\/p>\n

Beware Boi\u00fana hits theaters October 2, and it\u2019s too bad drive-ins aren\u2019t really around anymore, because this looks like exactly the right kind of movie for that setting. Will you be checking it out?<\/p>\n
