{"id":634025,"date":"2026-09-24T01:48:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-24T01:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/634025\/"},"modified":"2026-09-24T01:48:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-24T01:48:15","slug":"cahill-set-to-become-new-limerick-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/634025\/","title":{"rendered":"Cahill set to become new Limerick manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mich\u00e9al Cahill is set to replace Jimmy Lee as the new manager of the Limerick footballers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/football\/2026\/0911\/1591218-lee-critical-of-disrespectful-limerick-football-board\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lee stepped aside earlier this month<\/a> and accused the county&#8217;s football board of a &#8220;disrespectful&#8221; lack of support to the management team and players in the process.<\/p>\n<p>In a lengthy statement announcing his departure, Lee also called for his former head coach Cahill to be given the role.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after a recommendation from the Treaty County&#8217;s managers appointments committee, Cahill is set to take charge for two seasons with an option of a third.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal will go to a Limerick county board meeting in October for ratification with details of his management team to be confirmed in due course.<\/p>\n<p>Mungret man Cahill was previously part of the Clare coaching team in a strength and conditioning role before joining Lee for the last two seasons with Limerick.<\/p>\n<p>He has also worked with American teams in a number of sports, including baseball\u2019s LA Dodgers and soccer academies Houston and Dallas \u2013 helping them with speed work during his studies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mich\u00e9al Cahill is set to replace Jimmy Lee as the new manager of the Limerick footballers.
