There\u2019s lots of art to report on this week, and there is a reception, too.<\/p>\n

The Brush Art Gallery and Studios on Market Street in Lowell is pleased to announce its annual show highlighting\u00a0work from its 10 studio artists. This year\u2019s collection of works focused on the theme \u201cShadows and Light\u201d and explores the many facets in which shadows and light play a role in our daily explorations.<\/p>\n

Whether it be nature, architecture or the folds of fabric, it is all a feast for the viewer to travel the timeline created by each artist.<\/p>\n

Show dates are now through Sunday, Nov. 1, and artists\u2019 reception is this Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The artists and their media include Penelope Cox, handmade jewelry; Jenny Day, quilts; Jalix Delacrux, painter\/mixed media; Lolita Demers, ceramics and mixed media; Claire Gagnon, painter; Chrissy Theo Hungate, sculpture\/painting; Amber Hurley, fiber art; Paul Richardson, photography; Kellie Weeks, painter\/printmaker; and Will Winslow, designer\/illustrator.<\/p>\n

\u2018Art in City Hall\u2019<\/p>\n

The \u201cArt in City Hall\u201d program features artwork by members of the Arts League of Lowell and is featured this month during City Hall business hours through Sept. 29.<\/p>\n

The Arts League of Lowell features over 300 regional artists whose work fill the galleries in a year-round series of themed shows. This \u201cArt in City Hall\u201d exhibit presents a selection from our members showing the breadth and range of their work. The exhibit includes artists Beverly Chorbajian, Margarida Correia, Meredith Day, Patti Fielding, Sarah Goor, Mary Hart, John Kondra, Stephen Malagodi, Tricia Neumyer, Bill Ociepka, Kim Ramsay, James Roberts, Coleman Rogers, Bob Stegmaier, Robert Sykes, and Debbie White.<\/p>\n

\u2018Ofrenda\u2019<\/p>\n

The Day of the Dead is a Mexican and Hispanic holiday that honors the dearly departed, and a Western Avenue artist named Gabriella Alejandra Aragon plans to make this a community event with an exhibit in the Storage Closet Gallery and the chance to honor your loved ones who have died. \u201cOfrenda\u201d is based on small altars built during the Day of the Dead to honor those who have passed on.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a show coming up for the celebration of Dia de los Muertos on October 3rd \u2026 I will be having a community \u2018ofrenda\u2019 to honor and celebrate loved ones who have passed. People are welcome to drop off a small photo, item or anything else small they are ok leaving behind. I strive to make community connections and know that Lowell is a large, diverse community. I grew up in Lynn and see so many parallels to my hometown.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

The exhibit continues through December and is open during monthly Open Studios and by appointment.<\/p>\n
