Actor and presenter Mark Consuelos is undergoing “major surgery”, after putting off the op for a year.<\/p>\n
The Riverdale star announced on Live with Kelly and Mark that he was heading to the hospital straight after the show for the procedure on his toe.<\/p>\n
He said: “Today’s the day. I’ve been putting off this toe surgery for about a year.”<\/p>\n
His wife and co-host Kelly Ripa said she’d be going with him to the medical centre, but admitted she did have something of an ulterior motive.<\/p>\n
Referring to the anaesthetic Mark would be on, Kelly giggled: “I’m not resisting the opportunity to video capture you coming out of your propofol haze.”<\/p>\n
Mark remembered “people say some funny, funny things” when they’re coming off of the anaesthetic, with Kelly reminding him: “I have you on video from your last foot surgery!”<\/p>\n
The screen star admitted he was already feeling a “little loopy” before the procedure as he’d been fasting for the past day ahead of the operation.<\/p>\n
He said: “It’s dumb. I just want to eat! I can be convinced to eat at any moment!”<\/p>\n
As Kelly mused: “I’ve never heard of fasting for 24 hours before a surgery.”<\/p>\n
While the couple stopped short of revealing exactly what procedure Mark was going to be having, the actor did say that he would be in a boot afterwards, and joked he was going to “bedazzle” it.<\/p>\n
Kelly then interjected: “He’s having a toe surgery. Basically, he’s having a pedicure.”<\/p>\n
Before Mark replied: “No, this is a major surgery. It’s like a C-section for your toe.”<\/p>\n
It remains to be seen how much time Mark will be taking off the talk show he co-hosts with his wife.<\/p>\n
However, Kelly was recently to take some time off the programme, due to having gum graft surgery.<\/p>\n
She explained about the op: “I brush my teeth too much. It’s a good-bad habit. But I’ve caused gum recession down here specifically, and so they have gotta re-gum my gums.”<\/p>\n
