Northern Ireland Railways to close a number of small stations on the line between Derry and Coleraine.<\/p>\n
Limavady District Council expresses concern over a proposal by Northern Ireland Railways<\/a> to close down all the small stations on the line between Derry<\/a> and Coleraine<\/a>. The threatened train stations are Limavady Junction, Castlerock, Downhill, Bellarena, Magilligan and Culmore. It is thought their closure would speed up services between Belfast<\/a> and Derry by 15 to 20 minutes and attract more people to travel by rail.<\/p>\n The council wants to see the Limavady Junction station to remain open as it is a vital service for the town and surrounding district.<\/p>\n An RT\u00c9 News report broadcast on 27 September 1976.
