{"id":638419,"date":"2026-09-28T10:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T10:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/638419\/"},"modified":"2026-09-28T10:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T10:32:10","slug":"female-garda-hospitalised-following-assault-by-man-near-dublin-castle-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/638419\/","title":{"rendered":"Female garda hospitalised following assault by man near Dublin Castle \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-s&#xED;och&#xE1;na\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-s&#xED;och&#xE1;na\">garda<\/a> on duty at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-castle\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-castle\">Dublin Castle<\/a> as part of the security operation for Ireland\u2019s presidency of the council of the European Union was hospitalised following an assault last week. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man attacked the female officer at 2.30am last Wednesday before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed said a suspect was later arrested and charged and will appear before the courts at a \u201cfuture date\u201d. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The garda, who was taken to hospital for treatment following the assault, remains off duty. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A Garda spokesperson said: \u201cWhile on duty at Cork Hill, Dublin 2, on Wednesday, September 23rd, shortly after 2.30am, a female garda member was assaulted by a lone male.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThe suspect fled the scene but was later arrested and charged.
