In tai chi terms, one leg becomes “full” and the other “empty”, and the whole point is that you don’t move on until that transfer is complete.

“So, tai chi walking is much more of a meaningful, slower and controlled walk.”

Once you have mastered these movements, breathwork can be incorporated to further enhance the results of this practice.

“During tai chi we use diaphragmatic breathing which involves breathing through the nose and taking nice slow, controlled breaths that engages the diaphragm,” says Bossick. “So, it is more like belly breathing rather than breathing from the upper chest.”

What are the benefits?

            Accessible for all ages

<img decoding="async" loading="lazy" src="https://www.newsbeep.com/ie/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/5241835_2_articleinlinemobile_01M3K9T6H97MX60XE48187CA9X.jpg" alt="Tai chi walking is accessible.
