{"id":639283,"date":"2026-09-29T06:58:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T06:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/639283\/"},"modified":"2026-09-29T06:58:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T06:58:14","slug":"met-eireann-forecasts-heavy-rain-and-high-winds-with-weather-warning-for-five-counties-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/639283\/","title":{"rendered":"Met \u00c9ireann forecasts heavy rain and high winds with weather warning for five counties \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">A status-yellow wind warning is due to come into effect for most of Munster later on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">The wind warning for Cork, Kerry, Clare, Limerick and Waterford will be in place from 1pm until 9pm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">For the same time period, a status yellow rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\">Met \u00c9ireann<\/a> said potential impacts would include difficult travelling conditions, fallen trees and branches, debris, loose objects becoming displaced and wave overtopping. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">The wave overtopping is predicted due to a combination of spring tides, surge and very strong onshore winds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">A status-yellow gale warning from Roches Point, Co Cork, to Slyne Head, Co Galway, and Fair Head, Co Antrim, will be in effect from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">Another status-yellow gale warning has been issued from Carlingford Lough, Co Louth, to Mizen Head, Co Cork, and Fair Head, Co Antrim. This warning will be in place from 6pm Tuesday until midnight Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">Highest temperatures on Tuesday will be 17 to 20 degrees. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">Met \u00c9ireann said Wednesday would be blustery with sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy and thundery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">The weather for the rest of the week looks mixed, with \u201cdrier and more settled weather\u201d over the weekend. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A status-yellow wind warning is due to come into effect for most of Munster later on Tuesday.
