Trouw Nutrition closes manufacturing site<\/p>\n
The Trouw Nutrition manufacturing facility at Ship Street in Belfast ceased production and permanently closed on Wednesday
\n30 September.<\/p>\n
The decision to close the site was first announced in May, with the company confirming at the time it would result in the loss of
\n29 jobs.<\/p>\n
However, Trouw has reiterated that its sales, technical support and customer service operations are unaffected and continue as normal from the company\u2019s headquarters at Clarendon Dock in Belfast. Products continue to be manufactured at sites in Britain and Europe.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to be totally clear that Trouw Nutrition is fully committed to the island of Ireland,\u201d said UK and Ireland manager, Bruce Spain.<\/p>\n
Nature scheme group element to open<\/p>\n
The group element of the Farming With Nature agri environment scheme is to open for applications on 9 November 2026.<\/p>\n
Agriculture Minister Andrew Muir said the scheme will fund up to 10 landscape projects across NI, with up to 50 farmers participating in each project.<\/p>\n
He said the scheme will include grant funding for \u201cbespoke landscape actions tailored to improve biodiversity and habitat connectivity\u201d.<\/p>\n
Scheme participants will also receive a participation payment for attending training, as well as an additional payment for taking part in monitoring.<\/p>\n
Applicants will nominate a project coordinator to manage the project and submit a project proposal. The deadline for applications is Friday 4 December at 5pm.<\/p>\n
Factory weighing needs transparency \u2013 UFU <\/p>\n
Meat processors in NI should clearly communicate their weighing procedures to farmer suppliers, the Ulster Farmers\u2019 Union (UFU) has said.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the UFU said \u201cappropriate mechanisms\u201d should be in place for producers to raise legitimate queries about livestock weighing systems in factories.<\/p>\n
