Ireland’s first Wendy’s restaurant opens in Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork on Tuesday, the chain’s first location under a partnership with Corrib Oil.<\/p>\n
The restaurant will create 50 jobs, and opens at 10.30am on Tuesday morning. Over the coming years, Corrib plans to open 10 Wendy\u2019s locations across the country as both standalone Wendy\u2019s restaurants and Wendy\u2019s locations at Corrib Oil service stations, creating more than 300 jobs nationwide. Further Wendy\u2019s locations in Ireland will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n

Corrib Oil currently operates 40 convenience stores with forecourts and 20 fuel depots across 17 counties. The partnership with Wendy\u2019s is a key part of Corrib Oil\u2019s broader expansion strategy in Ireland, which aims to more than double its national footprint to 100 locations by 2030 and continue to grow its home heating distribution and fuel card business.<\/p>\n
The Wendy’s brand is best known for its square hamburgers, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and the Frosty dessert. There will also be breakfast options and a variety of wraps and kids\u2019 meals. Wendy’s operates more than 7,000 restaurants in 30 countries.<\/p>\n

Mahon Point Shopping Centre director Justin Young said bringing the first Wendy\u2019s to Ireland is “great news” for the centre. “We are expecting a really busy time ahead with the new restaurant opening, and we are looking forward to supporting the teams at Corrib and Wendy\u2019s as they bring the much-anticipated, high-quality food Wendy\u2019s is famous for to the people of Cork.\u201d<\/p>\n
Corrib Oil was founded in Claremorris,in Mayo in 1987 and operates two distinct divisions, Corrib Retail and Corrib Distribution. Corrib Retail includes 40 convenience stores with forecourts across 17 counties while Corrib Distribution is a leading energy distributor, operating through 20 depots across 14 counties. Having maintained a 25-year relationship with BWG Foods, all Corrib Retail convenience stores are branded as Spar, while all forecourts are branded Circle K or Texaco, with instore partners including Insomnia, Apache Pizza, Subway and Zambrero. The Corrib Distribution business supplies home heating oil, road fuels, fuel cards and lubricants from 20 distribution sites.
