There’s still a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine under the DBX GT’s bonnet and in fact, it gets the same Aston Martin Valhalla turbo tech as the DBX S and the exact same outputs: 727hp at 6,250rpm and a chunky 900Nm of torque on tap between 3,000- and 5,250rpm.

An active exhaust system is fitted as before, though it has been tuned to be a little quieter in the default driving mode – and still as gloriously loud as the S’s system if the driver chooses one of the Sport driving modes.

View gallery

A bit of work was done on the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the name of smoothness and comfort, but Aston Martin quotes the same 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds as the DBX S manages.

All-wheel drive is standard of course, though as ever it’s a rear-biased system, making use of an electronic active centre transfer case and electronic control of the limited-slip rear differential. There’s a dedicated ‘Terrain’ mode, too, but who brings their €500,000 Aston SUV off-road?

Wouldn’t want to spoil those shiny new wheels

View gallery

Indeed, though the DBX GT does ride on smaller alloys as standard. They’re a new 22-inch design, sitting on Pirelli Scorpion Zero All-Season tyres, said to enhance comfort, though as the DBX GT will no doubt be as customisable as any other Aston, buyers can choose a 23-inch rim if they wish.

A new damper valve system is fitted to the adaptive damping of the DBX GT, in the name of compliance when the road surface isn’t billiard-table smooth, but the big carbon-ceramic brakes and quick-ratio power steering of the DBX S have been carried over.

How can I tell I’m looking at a DBX GT?

View gallery

There are giveaways front and rear, even if the owner has changed the wheels. Up front, the large radiator grille is emphasised by a new double-vane style, extending to the outer air vents. This can be had in a bright or dark finish.

More subtle is a new two-piece metal side strake and the use of body colour for many of the sections that are black in the DBX S.

View gallery

The rear of the DBX GT is characterised by unique exhaust finishers and a less prominent aerodynamic diffuser than on the S model. It’s still a quad-outlet design, just with the pipes place next to each other rather than stacked.

Anything new inside the DBX GT?

View gallery

The biggest news inside is the fitment of new seats, designed with comfort in mind. They come with more bolstering and even memory foam, along with a few unique embroidery touches.

In the back, the outer two seats are now more sculpted than before, mimicking those in the front. Semi-aniline leather and deep-pile floor mats complete a notably generous level of specification, though of course, the sky is the limit if you want to personalise the DBX GT to your preferences. It’s available to order right away.

Video player loading.

    Video unavailable. Watch on YouTube

If there is anything about this story we have not covered, you can avail of our
expert advice service via the
Ask Us Anything page.

Tell me the Aston DBX hasn’t gone electric View gallery As if.
