{"id":644658,"date":"2026-10-04T16:44:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T16:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/644658\/"},"modified":"2026-10-04T16:44:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T16:44:10","slug":"man-dies-in-overnight-apartment-fire-in-mount-merrion-dublin-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/644658\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dies in overnight apartment fire in Mount Merrion, Dublin \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man in his 50s died over night in an apartment fire on the southside of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fire-brigade\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-fire-brigade\/\">Dublin Fire Brigade<\/a> said it was alerted to a fire at  1.20am in the Stillorgan\/Mount Merrion area of the city and firefighters and paramedics from Donnybrook, Rathfarnham and Dolphin\u2019s Barn were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The blaze was quickly brought under control but the body of a man was recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at St Colmcille\u2019s Hospital in Loughlinstown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The coroner was notified and a postmortem examination will be carried out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na took control of the scene at about 3am and a technical examination was being carried out on Sunday morning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood, however, that foul play is not suspected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man in his 50s died over night in an apartment fire on the southside of Dublin.
