Cancer changes you in so many ways.”

She added:

“If they’re going to do one thing today, could they please check their breasts. Everyone you love will thank you for it.”

Amanda said she appreciates every day she gets to spend with her children, husband, family and friends.

She is also encouraging people across Wexford to organise Pink fundraising events in their homes, workplaces, communities and colleges.

Money raised helps fund services including counselling, transport to treatment and Night Nursing, as well as breast cancer research.

Around 3,600 women and approximately 30 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland every year.

Irish Cancer Society nurse Mary O’Kelly says regular breast awareness is important, including for women who are eligible for screening.

She advises people to know what is normal for them and to seek medical advice if they notice a persistent change.

Symptoms can include a lump or thickening in the breast or armpit, changes in the size or shape of a breast, changes to the skin or nipple, unusual discharge, swelling around the collarbone or armpit, or a rash around the nipple.

The Irish Cancer Society says nine out of ten breast changes will not turn out to be cancer, but anyone with symptoms should have them checked by their GP.

In 2025, public donations helped provide more than 6,100 lifts to treatment for breast cancer patients, over 300 nights of Night Nursing care and thousands of counselling and support sessions.

Anyone concerned about breast cancer can contact the Irish Cancer Society Support Line on 1800 200 700.

Further information on the Pink campaign is available at cancer.ie/pink.

A 37-year-old Wexford breast cancer survivor is urging people to support the Irish Cancer Society’s Pink campaign during…

[10
3279,319,103,61,60,2673,1529,8284,43,700,151809,9270
post-645442","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health","tag-broadcast","tag-broadcasting","tag-health","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-irish-news","tag-local-news","tag-local-radio","tag-news","tag-radio","tag-south-east-radio","tag-wexford
["GET
