Apparently, Taylor Swift knows just how to make a birthday memorable — even if she has to bring the cake herself.

During Dakota Johnson’s third time hosting Saturday Night Live on Oct. 3, the actress got an unexpected birthday surprise when Swift appeared during the show’s goodnights, carrying a turquoise-and-white cake made especially for her.

Johnson, who turned 37 on Oct. 4, immediately lit up when she saw her pop star friend walking toward her with the tasty gift. After Swift handed over the cake, Johnson jumped up and down before wrapping the singer in a hug.

But there was someone sitting right at home who also lit up when they saw the cake: the baker who made it.

Gaby Scelzo, owner of New York bakery Gaby Cakes, had no idea her pastry would become part of such a cute moment during the episode.

“I was falling asleep as I was watching the show,” Scelzo tells People. “So the fact that she came out with it at the end was WILD.”

Scelzo had prepared two cakes for the occasion. The turquoise cake that Swift carried on stage was funfetti with salty vanilla buttercream, while the second cake was a gluten-free vanilla cake topped with marshmallow meringue frosting.

Interestingly, there was one detail baked into the experience to make it even more unforgettable, which was that Swift herself provided her handwriting. Before the cakes made their way to Studio 8H, Scelzo wrote “happy birthday Dakota!” across the top, later sharing a close-up of the finished cakes on Instagram. She jokingly captioned the post, “New font unlocked: Taylor Swift’s handwriting,” alongside a string of celebratory emojis.

Apparently, there are few things more surreal for a baker than turning on SNL and realizing the cake you just made is suddenly being carried across the stage by Taylor Swift.

According to People, isn’t Gaby Cakes’ first brush with Saturday Night Live, either. The bakery has previously made cakes for episodes involving Sabrina Carpenter, Jalen Brunson and Bowen Yang.

And Swift’s cake delivery wasn’t even her only surprise appearance during Johnson’s episode.

Earlier in the show, the singer popped up during Johnson’s opening monologue, during which the actress poked fun at her history of dating musicians. Johnson jokingly introduced Swift as her “literal therapist,” prompting the pop superstar to play along with a mock therapy-session exchange.

Johnson is in the midst of promoting Verity, a film adaptation of the bestselling Colleen Hoover novel. Meanwhile, Swift has much to celebrate as well, recently having The Life of a Showgirl re-enter the Billboard 200 thanks to the release of the deluxe edition, The Encore. Its lead single, “Patient Zero,” has also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the singer’s 15th song to top the chart.
