Lorde<\/a> has called out Robert Kraft by wearing a jacket with the message \u201cFree Palestine\u201d \u2013 which comes in response to the controversy over Ed Sheeran<\/a>\u2019s tour with Macklemore<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sheeran has been at the centre of controversy recently, after Macklemore was dropped as a support act for his \u2018Loop\u2019 tour<\/a> after making a speech calling for a \u201cfree Palestine\u201d.<\/p>\n

After making his comments on-stage, Robert Kraft \u2013 who owns the Gillette Stadium and is also owner of the New England Patriots \u2013 spoke out about the situation, saying he found Macklemore\u2019s speech \u201cdeeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following more disapproval from the likes of Pink<\/a> and the Israeli American Council, the rapper was removed from the tour.<\/p>\n

Since then, countless big names including Greta Thunberg<\/a>, Massive Attack<\/a>, Roger Waters<\/a>, Dropkick Murphys<\/a>, Amelia Dimoldenberg<\/a>, Billy Bragg<\/a> and Hayley Williams<\/a> have shown their support for Macklemore, and Ed Sheeran\u2019s band and other tour support acts have pulled out in solidarity<\/a> with the rapper.<\/p>\n

Now, Lorde has also shown her solidarity with Macklemore too, posting a photo of her wearing a jacket that has the message \u201cFree Palestine\u201d written at the bottom, and trying to tag Kraft in the post.<\/p>\n

The white, one-of-a-kind piece is the same jacket she wore when performing at Austin City Limits set two days prior, and seems to have been decorated with her handwriting. In the photo, she didn\u2019t share a caption, but instead just tagged \u201c@mr.robertkraft\u201d \u2013 which is a fan page for the venue owner.<\/p>\n

Around the time the controversy with Macklemore began, Ed Sheeran spoke out about the situation<\/a>, saying he was \u201cnot complicit\u201d and \u201cappalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine\u201d \u2013 seeing the \u201csuffering and pain caused on both sides\u201d as a \u201ctragedy\u201d. The \u2018Shape Of You\u2019 singer later returned to the stage in Philadelphia and apologised for \u201cmaking mistakes\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, Macklemore has since donated his entire $1million earnings from the tour to six organisations supporting Palestinians<\/a>, and also announced a \u2018Free Palestine Tour\u2019, which has already sold out<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kraft has said that Ed Sheeran had asked him to match a $2million humanitarian contribution in light of the situation.<\/p>\n

Since the scandal kicked off, Sheeran\u2019s scheduled gigs at the Gillette Stadium were cancelled<\/a> due to \u201csevere weather warnings\u201d in the area.<\/p>\n

Other big names to speak out on the situation include Tom Morello, who recently told NME that he admired Macklemore<\/a> for refusing to retreat from his stance and adding that \u201ccourage is contagious\u201d, and CMAT who shared that while she thinks some of the backlash towards Sheeran is \u201cunfair\u201d,<\/a> she thinks the pop star could have handled the situation differently.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Bob Geldof defended the star<\/a> but said he \u201creally admire[d] Macklemore\u201d and those who had walked away from the tour, Sheeran\u2019s former support act Aaron Rowe said that anger over the situation should instead be aimed at \u201cthe likes of Robert Kraft\u201d<\/a>, and Zach Bryan wore a \u201cFree Palestine\u201d T-shirt during a show at Gillette Stadium<\/a> as a jab at Kraft.<\/p>\n
