{"id":650854,"date":"2026-10-10T19:56:15","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T19:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/650854\/"},"modified":"2026-10-10T19:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T19:56:15","slug":"cygnus-xl-cargo-spacecraft-released-from-station-by-canadarm2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/650854\/","title":{"rendered":"Cygnus XL Cargo Spacecraft Released from Station by Canadarm2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 12:44\u00a0p.m. EDT, Northrop Grumman\u2019s Cygnus XL was released from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/international-space-station\/mobile-servicing-system\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canadarm2 robotic arm<\/a> after\u00a0it detached from the Earth-facing port of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">International Space Station\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/international-space-station\/unity-module\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Unity module<\/a>. At the time of release, the\u00a0space\u00a0station was flying about 260 miles above the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cygnus XL successfully\u00a0departed\u00a0the orbiting laboratory\u00a0nearly six\u00a0months after arriving with about 11,000 pounds of supplies, scientific investigations, commercial products, hardware, and other cargo for NASA and its international partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mission controllers will command the spacecraft to deorbit\u00a0Monday, Oct. 12, carrying several thousand pounds of disposal items and other unneeded cargo into Earth\u2019s\u00a0atmosphere, where it will harmlessly burn up during re-entry.
