THE DIRECTORS OF the Irish-based seller and distributor of Cadbury\u2019s chocolate said \u2018pricing actions\u2019 were required in 2025 to ensure that its business continued to be profitable.<\/p>\n
On the back of cocoa prices surging by 160% in 2024, Mondelez last year increased the prices of its chocolates including its flagship product Cadbury\u2019s Dairy Milk bar.<\/p>\n
New accounts for Mondelez Ireland Ltd show that operating profits last year increased by 31% from \u20ac4.2 million to \u20ac5.55 million.<\/p>\n
The firm\u2019s increased profits followed revenues rising by 11% or by \u20ac33.85 million from \u20ac317.13 million to \u20ac350.98 million.<\/p>\n
The directors attribute the rise in revenues to \u2018pricing actions\u2019 and other activities including the focus on key brands in 2025.<\/p>\n
The directors state that \u201cstrong customer relations supported Mondelez in achieving the pricing actions which were required to ensure our business continues to be profitable\u201d.<\/p>\n
They state that the focus on key brands in 2025 \u201caccelerated by our marketing activity also drove strong customer loyalty\u201d.<\/p>\n
The firm paid a dividend of \u20ac16 million during the year to shareholder, Kraft Foods Schweiz Holding Gmbh.<\/p>\n
Pre-tax profits at the company only increased marginally from \u20ac6.36 million to \u20ac6.62 million as the company\u2019s interest received at \u20ac1.07m was down sharply on the \u20ac2.1 million interest received in 2024.<\/p>\n
The directors state that 2025 \u201cwas another successful year for the company with growth in turnover despite the cost-of-living crisis in Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n
They state that market conditions continue \u201cto be challenging in all the categories in which we operate: confectionery, cheese, bakery and grocery. Inflationary pressures continue to have an impact on both the business and consumers\u201d.<\/p>\n
They state that \u201cwe gained market share in the total confectionery category and in the protein category with Grenade. Biscuits dropped 0.5pts of share due to strong competition and new entrants to the market\u201d.<\/p>\n
They state that Mondelez has robust plans to turn this around and has seen recent share recovery on the back of these plans.<\/p>\n
The directors state that \u201cour \u2018invest\u2019 strategy in Candy is working and we have seen positive share impact as well as volume growth\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mondelez in 2025, according to the directors\u2019 report, maintained the number one position in the market for confectionery.<\/p>\n
The directors anticipate that the company\u2019s operations will continue to expand its presence in the Irish market with its product portfolio and generate revenue from these products and related service needs.<\/p>\n
The report reveals that the Mondelez group \u201chas strong plans so that we can continue to serve our customers and consumers moving forward\u201d.<\/p>\n
On the performance of the company since year-end, the directors state that its key strategic initiatives across its portfolio all are progressing well and driving strong business performance.<\/p>\n
They state that results for the first half of 2026 \u201chave been robust, with positive outcomes recorded across all commercial metrics.\u201d<\/p>\n
They state that at a total level Mondelez Ireland Limited gained 0.2 pts value share YTD (Year To Date) as of June 2026.<\/p>\n
The directors state that the Irish arm Mondelez continues to drive innovation through new product development \u201cwhile sharpening our local focus on high-growth channels, including online and away-from-home\u201d.<\/p>\n
Numbers employed last year increased by one to 80 as staff costs declined from \u20ac9.15 million to \u20ac8.86 million.<\/p>\n
The firm recorded post tax profits of \u20ac5.47 million after incurring a corporation tax charge of \u20ac1.15 million.<\/p>\n
The profits also take account of non-cash amortisation costs of \u20ac1.4 million. Directors\u2019 pay totalled \u20ac808,000 that comprises \u20ac530,000 in aggregate emoluments, \u20ac145,000 in pension payments, \u20ac81,000 in share options and \u20ac52,000 in payments under long term incentive schemes.<\/p>\n
