{"id":654457,"date":"2026-10-14T12:16:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T12:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/654457\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T12:16:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T12:16:12","slug":"man-40s-hospitalised-after-gun-fired-into-car-in-co-clare-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/654457\/","title":{"rendered":"Man (40s) hospitalised after gun fired into car in Co Clare \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man in his 40s is recovering in hospital after he was shot in Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/clare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/clare\/\">Clare<\/a> early on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man sustained a gunshot wound after a gun was fired inside a vehicle at Coolreagh at about 5.15am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> said the man\u2019s injuries were not life-threatening and that Garda investigations were continuing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A dark coloured Volkswagen van that garda\u00ed suspect is linked to the shooting was subsequently recovered at a filling station on Corbally Road, Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The van was cordoned off by garda\u00ed, and an initial forensic examination took place at the filling station. The van was later removed by a tow truck to a yard for a further forensic examination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed designated two separate crime scenes, including one scene at Coolreagh where they believe the man was shot, and at Corbally where the van was recovered, a distance of 32km away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A Garda spokesman said: \u201cGarda\u00ed and emergency services responded to a discharge of a firearm inside a motor vehicle that occurred near Coolreagh, Co Clare, on Tuesday shortly after 5.15am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cA male aged in his 40s was conveyed to hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at the time. A technical examination of the scene is being conducted.
