man and a woman were arrested<\/a> on Thursday in connection with the garda\u00ed\u2019s investigation into the fatal attack.<\/p>\nSpeaking to reporters today at a graduation ceremony for garda\u00ed in Templemore, Kelly extended his condolences to the English family and the wider community of Waterford for the \u201cabsolutely horrendous crime\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a full homicide investigation under way, we have made significant progress in the last number of days,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe significantly made seven searches, we have seized a number of items in connection with the investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have two people in custody currently. We do anticipate further arrests in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kelly said garda\u00ed have given \u201cevery resource\u201d to the investigation into the arson attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI spoke to the lead investigator myself this morning so we are quite satisfied as to the direction the investigation is going,\u201d he said, adding that he was getting briefed on the probe \u201con a practically hourly basis\u201d.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
Drug-related intimidation<\/p>\n

He also said that steps are in place to protect people suffering from drug-related intimidation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a very difficult thing for An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na to deal with. We have put a number of steps in place to support people who do want to come forward. I would certainly encourage people to come forward and speak to us about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cWe have had a number of prosecutions in this area where we have prosecuted people for drugs-related intimidation.<\/p>\n
What we have certainly seen is an increased use of devices, incendiary devices, petrol bombs. Obviously we are very concerned around it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we are doing is increasing our targeting, not just on the higher level drugs organised crime groups but some of the medium ones as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said garda\u00ed had good cooperation from the public in the Waterford investigation.<\/p>\n
Also speaking at the ceremony, Minister for Justice Jim O\u2019Callaghan said he believes garda\u00ed can keep people who are under threat from drug gangs safe and appealed to people to put their faith in them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are being intimidated, if somebody is threatening you with violence, go to An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na and report it. That is the best way to deal with this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na can keep people safe. We have seen prosecutions and convictions in respect of drug-related intimidation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf people don\u2019t report it to the garda\u00ed they are very much on their own. But the support is there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to the arson attack to come forward.<\/p>\n
They are asking anyone who was in the area between 4.30am and 5.30am on Tuesday morning and who may have dashcam footage or images to contact them.<\/p>\n
