DUBLIN \u2014 An Air France flight bound for Paris was forced to make an unexpected diversion to Dublin Airport early Monday morning following a medical emergency on board.<\/p>\n

Air France Flight AF99<\/a>, operated by a Boeing 777-300ER (registration F-GZNH), had departed George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, shortly after 4:00 PM local time on Sunday, October 18.<\/p>\n

After almost eight hours of transatlantic travel, the long-haul airliner was cruising at 34,000 feet south of Ireland when the flight crew issued a general emergency signal (squawking code 7700) to air traffic control. The call was prompted by a passenger falling ill mid-flight and requiring immediate medical assistance.<\/p>\n
