{"id":660656,"date":"2026-10-20T19:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-20T19:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/660656\/"},"modified":"2026-10-20T19:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-20T19:34:09","slug":"two-gardai-injured-after-crash-involving-teenagers-in-stolen-car-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/660656\/","title":{"rendered":"Two garda\u00ed injured after crash involving teenagers in stolen car \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Two garda\u00ed were injured after their patrol car was involved in a crash with a car carrying three teenagers in south Dublin early on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Three teenage males were arrested after the car, which was reported stolen, was stopped following a Garda operation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed on a routine patrol shortly before 1am on Tuesday on the Nangor Road near Clondalkin spotted a vehicle which had been reported stolen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The vehicle ran from the squad car before a \u201cmanaged containment operation\u201d was initiated by the Garda and the car was brought to a stop on Cruagh Road in Rathfarnham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood the chase continued for a \u201csignificant period\u201d across the west of the city through Ballyfermot, Lucan and along the M50.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Three teenagers, two of whom under 18, were arrested by garda\u00ed at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The adult teenager, who garda\u00ed believe was driving the car, is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in south Dublin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The two teenage boys were released pending further inquiries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A Garda squad car was hit during the chase and two garda\u00ed were brought to hospital.
