Mary Warde, HSE Integrated Healthcare Area Manager for Mayo says that bank holiday weekends can be a particularly busy time for Emergency Departments.<\/p>\n
Many common illnesses can be treated at home but if you need an urgent GP appointment over the weekend, the out of hours GP service in this region is called Westdoc.\u00a0The service is open all weekend, but you do need to make an appointment in advance by calling (0818) 360 000. Out of Hours GP information is available on the HSE website by clicking\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Your local pharmacy can also offer expert advice on a wide range of common illnesses and complaints. At this time of year, we expect to see an increase in flu and COVID-19, please ensure you are up to date with your vaccines to reduce your risk of serious respiratory illness this winter.
