\n\tRay Winstone<\/a> was out a little too late the night before his \u201cStar Wars<\/a>\u201d audition.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent conversation with Far Out<\/a>, the \u201cBlack Widow\u201d star said he showed up to his audition for the role of Padm\u00e9 Amidala\u2019s father drunk, or \u201cpissed,\u201d as he put it. As a result, the casting \u201cdidn\u2019t go well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHad words and that was that,\u201d Winstone said. \u201cI\u2019ve worked for George since, and he was fine. He didn\u2019t remember. Or if he did, he didn\u2019t take it to heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWinstone recalled that he was \u201cout all night\u201d the evening prior, and as soon as he walked into the audition, he knew he was \u201cwrong for the part.\u201d Instead of telling him outright, Winstone said George Lucas<\/a> \u201crelayed the message to me through someone else,\u201d which he \u201ctook umbrage\u201d at.<\/p>\n

\n\tWinstone remembered Lucas yawning through his entire casting, presumably because of \u201cjet lag.\u201d After the try-out was over, the \u201cStar Wars\u201d mastermind was dead silent, prompting Winstone to tell him, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we both have a 15-minute sleep and then I\u2019ll fuck off?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite missing out on the role, Winstone has no regrets. He said that \u201cStar Wars\u201d is \u201cthat sort of film would bore the arse off me, all that bluescreen work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe role of Padm\u00e9\u2019s father, Ruwee Naberrie, ultimately went to Graeme Blundell, who appeared in the role in \u201cStar Wars: Episode III \u2013 Revenge of the Sith.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThree years after the 2005 release of \u201cRevenge of the Sith,\u201d Winstone reunited with Lucas on \u201cIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.\u201d Lucas was a writer and executive producer on the film, while Winstone played antagonist George \u201cMac\u201d Michale.<\/p>\n

\n\tWinstone\u2019s more recent credits include \u201cDamsel,\u201d \u201cPuss in Boots: The Last Wish\u201d and \u201cThe Gentlemen\u201d TV series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ray Winstone was out a little too late the night before his \u201cStar Wars\u201d audition.
