RT\u00c9 presenter Laura Fox has revealed how she and husband Brian Moran settled on the nickname “the FOMOs” after struggling to agree on which surname to use.<\/p>\n
Appearing on Friday night’s Late Late Show, Fox told host Patrick Kielty about the couple\u2019s two weddings earlier this year, including a supposedly low-key Dublin celebration that attracted 50 friends and family.<\/p>\n
The couple married in a civil ceremony in Dublin in April before celebrating again in Rome in August.<\/p>\n
Explaining how the first wedding came about, Fox said she had sent a casual message to a family and friends WhatsApp group.<\/p>\n
“Who\u2019s free on Tuesday in Dublin? Just going to get married, few drinks, maybe, like, a bite to eat,” she recalled.<\/p>\n
“50 people were like, ‘Absolutely, I\u2019m not doing anything on a Tuesday, why not?\u2019”<\/p>\n

Fox admitted that organising their Italian wedding had also been something of a last-minute affair during a particularly busy year.<\/p>\n
“We must get to that, we must get to that,” she recalled repeatedly telling herself, as friends and family pressed for details.<\/p>\n
The Galway native also described how she and Moran had been having “an absolute war” over their married name.<\/p>\n
While she favoured Fox and he preferred Moran, combining the two surnames raised another question: whose should come first?<\/p>\n
“And then I had a drink one day, and then I decided, \u2018Ha, the FOMOs,\u2019” she said.<\/p>\n
Explaining the reference to “fear of missing out”, Fox added: “It\u2019s very on-brand for us, because we love a day out at the best of times.”<\/p>\n
Moran suggested reversing the order, but Fox felt “MoFo” didn\u2019t have quite the same ring to it.<\/p>\n
The presenter was also on the show to discuss the return of Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family, which begins its 14th series on Sunday, 1 November.<\/p>\n
She revealed that this year\u2019s contestants include a grandmother competing alongside her two sons and grandson, as well as a 14-year-old boy who had been waiting years to take part.<\/p>\n
Fox said managing the show\u2019s coaches was sometimes like “herding kittens”, revealing that Donncha O\u2019Callaghan regularly disappears in search of coffee during filming.<\/p>\n
“You need to, like, Google Map where the closest coffee shop is, because that\u2019s in the direction that he\u2019s gone,” she said.<\/p>\n
