{"id":664241,"date":"2026-10-24T18:12:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-24T18:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/664241\/"},"modified":"2026-10-24T18:12:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-24T18:12:08","slug":"man-accused-of-recording-intimate-image-without-consent-at-dublin-airport-remanded-in-custody-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/664241\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accused of recording intimate image without consent at Dublin Airport remanded in custody \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man accused of recording an intimate image of another man without his consent in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\/\">Dublin Airport<\/a> has been remanded in custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The accused (25), a foreign national who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Judge M\u00e1ire Conneely at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/district-court\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/district-court\/\">Dublin District Court<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">With most criminal law solicitors in the capital having withdrawn their services over July\u2019s criminal legal aid payment reforms, the man was unrepresented as he faced Garda objections to being granted bail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He faces a single charge under Section 3 of the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The allegation is that he recorded an intimate image without consent, causing alarm, distress or harm at pier 2 in the airport on Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man, whose address on the charge was listed as \u201cunknown\u201d, has not entered a plea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda Maiti\u00fa Fitzpatrick said the man \u201cmade no reply\u201d when charged. Evidence about the alleged incident was not heard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The judge advised the accused that he could proceed with his bail application himself without legal representation or wait for an adjourned date when a solicitor might be available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man, whose nationality was not stated, requested an adjournment and deferred his bail application. He consented to being remanded in custody to appear again next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It was an emergency court sitting on Saturday and none of the 16 defendants in the main daytime sitting, which deals with urgent cases, had legal representation due to the ongoing industrial action. Three were held in custody and the remainder were granted bail, mainly unopposed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">One man facing accusations of breaching bail terms acted for himself.
