{"id":665751,"date":"2026-10-26T10:54:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-26T10:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/665751\/"},"modified":"2026-10-26T10:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-26T10:54:12","slug":"apple-music-unveils-logo-that-was-physically-made-by-sound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/665751\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Music unveils logo that was physically &#8220;made by sound&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technology brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/tag\/apple\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> has revealed the first rebrand for its Apple Music service, which was made in collaboration with musician Fred Again by passing sound waves through a pool of oil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Created as part of the service\u2019s first rebrand since Apple Music launched in 2015, the logo has a wave-like aesthetic that was created through a physical process at a time when digital design and artificial intelligence are at the forefront of creative processes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Apple, the core concept was to give Apple Music a distinctive sound and create a logo that was \u201cmade by sound\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor the rebrand of Apple Music, we wanted sound to create the visuals,\u201d said Apple. \u201cHow do we take this idea of music and distill it into something visually beautiful?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The creation process was revealed in a video released by Apple, which showed an application icon-shaped piece of plastic placed in a shallow pool of mineral oil. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Musical frequencies, created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fredagain.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fred Again<\/a> in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/nestacoustics.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NEST Acoustics<\/a>, were translated into physical vibrations using a transducer. These vibrations moved the oil to produce the wave-like effect on the logo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEssentially, the idea was to create the perfect sound wave,\u201d said Apple. \u201cWe take a frequency and we play it through a rig. This rig then moves a large amount of liquid at the frequency of the notes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe partnered with one of the world\u2019s best music artists to create the notes for the final mnemonic,\u201d it continued. \u201cAnd then we used that sound to create the visuals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" aria-haspopup=\"dialog\" aria-label=\"Open image in gallery: Apple Music rebrand\" data-article-lightbox-trigger=\"\" data-bs-target=\"#article-lightbox\" data-bs-toggle=\"modal\" data-gallery-slider-index=\"2\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/apple-music-logo_dezeen_1704_col_0-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Apple Music rebrand\" class=\"wp-image-2377731 content-image--column article-lightbox-trigger\"  \/>The logo uses an updated typeface<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with the wave-like overlay, the typology of the Apple Music logo has been amended to align with wider Apple visual identities. Sat alongside the apple icon, the M in music has been made lowercase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The typology was changed to a custom version of Apple\u2019s SF Pro typeface in an entirely lowercase, bold letterform.<\/p>\n<p><img aria-haspopup=\"dialog\" aria-label=\"Open image in gallery: Apple Music rebrand\" data-article-lightbox-trigger=\"\" data-bs-target=\"#article-lightbox\" data-bs-toggle=\"modal\" data-gallery-slider-index=\"3\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1666\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/apple-music-rebrand_dezeen_2364_col_1-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"Apple Music rebrand\" class=\"wp-image-2377232 content-image--column article-lightbox-trigger\"  \/>The logo is incorporated into the Apple Music Hall<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple unveiled the new logo last week along with an additional musical note icon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Apple Music identity was teased earlier in the month, when the company unveiled its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dezeen.com\/2026\/09\/23\/apple-music-hall-battersea-power-station\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple Music Hall venue in Battersea<\/a>, London.
